This is a wedding cake a friend and I made for our friends' wedding. They're totally funky and love 80's music and wanted an 80's themed cake, so here it is!

My friend deserves a lot of the credit, she just started her own cake business. But since we designed and created this one together, I thought I'd share. It was a big hit!

B-e-a-u-t-ful creation! - Howd you make it? - I love to decorate and am just starting to get REALLY interested in baking/decorating. Do you have nay hints/tips/resources so I can learn? thanks! ^.^

Um, lets see. We bought black fondant because it's nearly impossible to get white fondant to turn really black with food coloring. We also have an airbrush machine which made all the coloring easy. So the background is just black fondant. All the little shapes are also fondant pieces that we cut out of a large sheet of fondant (think sugar cookies). And the squiggly design was just some royal icing that we airbrushed once it was on the cake. Some other advice would be to make sure you don't use a really soft cake if you are going to stack it and use fondant because it won't be able to support the weight. The most important thing about stacking a cake a few tiers high is to use supports. We used dowels from the craft store and cut them to the right size. This keeps the cake safe from the weight of the other cakes on top of it.

That's all I can think of for that particular cake. The whole cake thing is really my friend's thing, I just enjoy helping.
